ABI Team Leadership has been created to give organizations
an exciting theory based training experience designed to improve team
processes. We specialize in helping teams develop trust and create communication
and feedback environments that elicit peer-to-peer accountability and
productive negotiation, along with other teamwork skills. We aim to
raise team performance for our clients.
Our Training Approach
The training process is made up of 60% class instruction
and 40% experiential training. Experiential training is the process
of coaching trainees while they are performing a task. In our experiential
training we have designed scenarios, which use OHV's (off highway vehicles)
in a role-play environment.
We use experiential training to maximize participant
learning. The training encompasses a heightened experience in a beautiful
setting, which allows for skill development and the repetitive use of
those skills. We have developed training scenarios that are based on
learning objectives and target knowledge, skills and attitudes. This
all transpires in a feedback environment that will benefit any organization
that uses teams. Our training is unique in that we have both an interactive
lecture environment and a hands/minds on experience for participants
to practice techniques from our lecture settings.
Training Scenario
One of the scenarios we have designed is referred to
as the wreckage retrieval scenario. In this scenario the teams are hired
by a fictitious government department to find valuable items that have
been lost due to an air traffic incident. The teams will be given information
or clues from this company and will have to work together to unravel
the information and coordinate the search for the items. The vehicles
will be used to travel to the points of interest and collect more necessary
info while dealing with the wilderness terrain and communicating constantly
with home base for more information.
Why Training?
Organizations are continually working to meet the demands
of increased competition and change; we are dedicated to help in this
endeavor. These challenges will only increase as the economy continues
to expand, baby boomers retire and new Canadians enter the workforce
in record numbers. The key to meeting these challenges will be training
and education.
According to a study of 3500 companies across North
America, the most profitable companies invested 240% more money in employee
development than did the least profitable companies. Companies are recognizing
the return on investment that increased employee skills bring.
Research has shown that education is a key attraction
and retention tool. Training for today's organizations needs to be both
an employee development tool and reward for today's skilled labor.
